1. Goal setting

BulletHawkHM is a free project designed for hobby shooters, enabling them to enhance their skills at home or any suitable location with minimal equipment. The software program is specifically designed for the analysis of hits on circular targets. It provides precise visualization of the hits, counts the score, and calculates the grouping and deviations relative to the center of the target. These functionalities help to assess the precision of the shots and make necessary adjustments. Here are some key aspects of this project:

2. Functions of the software

2.1 Hit recording and display

  • Hit capture: The software allows hits to be captured through automated input (e.g. through a visual system). Each hit is recorded with the coordinates on the target.
  • Visual representation: Hits are displayed on a digital target. The display takes place in a graphic window in which the circle and the target center are visible.
  • The scatter circle is automatically calculated and drawn in red based on the hits recorded
  • The software allows hits to be displayed in the form of dots or circles, the size of which depends on the hit accuracy.

2.2 Score calculation

  • Scoring System: The system allows a scoring system to be established based on the proximity of a hit to the center of the target. For example:
    • Inner circle (center): Highest score (e.g. 10 points).
    • Outer ring: Points based on distance to center, e.g. 8, 6, 4, 2 points.
    • Outside target: No point or minus points.
  • Automatic calculation: Based on the hit position, the software automatically calculates the score of each hit.

2.3 Scatter circle and deviation

  • Spread circle: The software calculates the spread circle, which describes the distance between the individual hits and the center of the target. The spread circle is an important indicator for the precision of shooting.
    • The calculation is done by determining the maximum distance of a hit from the center.
    • The scatter circle can be represented as the diameter of a circle that includes all hits.
  • Deviation from center: The deviation from the center of the target is calculated. This happens in both horizontal and vertical directions. This information is visualized.
  • The average distance of the hits from the center of the target is also determined (e.g. as a statistical key figure).

2.4 Precision analysis

  • Precision adjustment: The software provides feedback on the precision of the shots based on the dispersion and the deviation of the hits from the center. A statistical analysis of the deviations can show whether the shots generally have a high level of precision.
  • Suggestions for improvement: The software can make automatic suggestions for improving shooting technique based on the hit data, to adjust the weapon or improve your shooting skills.

2.5 User Interface

  • Target graphic: A clear representation of the target image showing the target center and all hits. The scatter circle and the deviations can be placed as a layer over the target image.
  • Statistical display: An overview of key data such as score, scatter circle size and average deviation is displayed in an easy-to-understand form.
